When Blue Note discovered Lee Morgan a 18 years old trumpet player, they made him sign a contract and a series of 6 records were issued, one every two months. The Cooker is the 5th and Lee Morgan was 19 when he recorded this masterpiece, but he already played like an experienced musician. He ranked 3 in the Downbeat magazine's chart, after Dizzy Gillespie and Miles Davis (it was 1957). The band playing in this record is wonderful, these are people who made jazz history.Artist: Lee Morgan
