The Oslo Jazz Festival 2009 is beginning to take shape as the festival adds 28 new names to the line-up.

This year’s festival will total 70 concerts using 18 different venues. The program includes 19 outdoor events and everything from a concert for children to senior jazz. Get ready for afternoon jazz all week long and our Friday afternoon jazz cruise on the fjord, not to mention 21 free events.

Milton Nascimento, Joshua Redman, Sidsel Endresen, Eivind Aarset & The Sonic Codex Orchestra, Mathias Eick, Han Bennink/Guus Janssen, Majken Christiansen Kvintett with Georgie Fame, Bernt Rosengren, Rudi Mahall/Aki Takase, Bodil Niska with Svante Thuresson, The Swedish Jazz Kings, Evan Christopher’s Django à la Créole, Stian Westerhus and Jenny Hval/Susanna K. Wallumrød with Meshes Of Voice are now confirmed.

In addition Jerry Bergonzi Norwegian Quartet, Berit Opheim Versto/Karl Seglem with Draumkvedet, Hot Club de Norvège with Adrien Moignard, Einar ”Pastor’n” Iversen, Magnolia Jazzband with Lillian Boutté, Ensemble Denada, Kompen/Værnes Kvintett, Christiania 12 with Roy Williams, The Sinatra Songbook, Jon Eberson, Willy Andresen, Ytre Suløens Jass-ensemble with Tricia Boutté, Laila Dalseth/Totti Bergh Kvartett and Jazzin Babies with Martin Litton will also be playing this year’s festival.

Concerts in Oslo’s new opera house are very popular, and with the addition of Brazilian super star Milton Nascimento and Belmondo to this year’s program, the Oslo Jazz Festival offers yet another opportunity to experience this wonderful venue.

Previously the Oslo Jazz Festival 2009 has announced the following concerts: For Radka, Antony and the Johnsons with the Norwegian National Opera Orchestra, Monk’s Casino, Aldo Romano Just Jazz, Nelson Veras, Scott Hamilton Scandinavian Five, Vidar Johansen Kvartett with Calle Neumann, Håvard Stubø Quartet, Flaten/Kornstad/Christensen and Jazzmob 10 years.
